Unique Features

Our Boards: REB & PHEB

We provide specialized review pathways tailored to the nature of your project:

Research Ethics Board (REB):  For clinical, public health, and allied health research projects across quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods designs.

Public Health Ethics Board (PHEB): For non-research public health initiatives & service delivery programs that rely on:

  • Community trust and cooperation
  • Donated or altruistic funding
  • Volunteer or honorary labor
  • Population-level data systems

Our Expanded Ethical Mandate

Our review framework extends ethical protection beyond research participants to include:

  • Researchers and data collectors
  • Volunteers and field staff
  • Communities hosting or affected by projects

This reflects our commitment to justice, reciprocity, and institutional responsibility.

Our Triple-Stream Review Process

Unlike traditional models, BMY Health employs a three-stream ethics review structure to provide comprehensive oversight:

  1. Scientific Review
Assesses methodological rigor, topic validity, study design, and accuracy of operational definitions through subject-matter and methodology experts.
  2. Ethics Review
Evaluates respect for persons, concern for welfare, justice, informed consent, risk–benefit balance, data privacy, and community considerations.
  3. Operations Review
Screens operational integrity as an ethical prerequisite, assessing feasibility, efficiency, governance structures, and contingency planning to ensure that participant contributions are not expended on unachievable projects.

Online & Efficient Processes

All submissions, reviews, communications, and approvals are managed through structured online automated systems to support transparency, documentation, and timely decision-making.
