Pakistan Projects
Research Ecosystem And Leaders for Change (2022-27)
We initiated the development of talent and leadership to transform the healthcare system, creating a Research Mentoring Program aimed at fostering a culture of Ethical Research and Leadership Development, starting with Pakistan, & expanding globally to achieve even greater milestones:
Internships in Health Research & Integrity
We build talent to lead healthcare innovation through research, leadership, and collaboration skill building. Starting with a piloted internship in 1st year, we scaled to train 150+ professionals over the next 2 years. Now, in final 4th & 5th year of the program, we partner with organizations/ entrepreneurs to bring our training in more settings, after which the program will enter a maintenance phase. A wave of similar mentorship startups followed our launch after 2022, making us among the humble trendsetters.
Primary Research Facilitation
We noticed a reluctance towards primary research and tailored our program to promote research in this field, developing better systems & collaborations, while also advocating for it.
Evolving IRBs & Research Ethics
Primary research system is broken; IRBs struggle for balance, & ethics are too often ignored. BMY Health built IRB systems that were conducive for researchers, while also deeply protective of ethical culture. We introduced a holistic approach to research ethics, not only for participants, but also researchers & societies we serve.
Screening Research Projects
To make primary research motivational, we introduced screening research projects, which also adding the benefit of advancing secondary prevention through screening & promoting public health.
Health Referral Network
Screening referrals required a robust health referral network. By mandating ethics certification for network inclusion, we actively promote clinical ethics in our network, elevating the broader healthcare landscape, thus delivering multiple health system benefits through one unified program.

Ethics & Integrity in Healthcare System of Pakistan - 2025
Vision: Strengthening ethical practices, justice, & integrity in the healthcare system of Pakistan through targeted trainings of service providers & leaders. In Pakistan currently there's no PhD program in bioethics field & very few candidates are accepted for Masters program, because of a lack of demand/ work opportunities in this field. Currently only 2 individuals in Pakistan hold a PhD in health ethics (by 2026). To achieve our vision of promoting ethics culture, promoting bioethics trainers is important.
Partners invited to support this project.

Decent opportunities for Ethics experts
We started by introducing incentives for ethics experts' reviews in our research internships, improved IRB systems through digitalization, & now scaling these internships to provide more opportunities for ethicists. We are also raising awareness among donors to get projects approved for public health ethics before funding approval.
Increasing Demand for Ethics courses
We made formal Ethics trainings mandatory for ethics role, and preferable for clinicians partnerships/ referral based opportunities with BMY Health to increase demand of such trainings.
Training Partnerships & Evolving the Field
We invite partnerships with ethics trainers to provide trainings in public health ethics, research ethics and clinical/ healthcare ethics, including short and long courses. We evolved BMY Health IRB and currently researching innovative frameworks.
