Join BMY Health Canada’s Research Ethics Board (REB) and Shape the Future of Ethical Research!
BMY Health Canada is expanding its Research Ethics Board and invites applications from professionals across various fields to join our team of ethics experts. As an REB member, you will ensure that research conducted under BMY Health Canada adheres to the highest ethical standards while protecting the rights and welfare of research participants.
Who Can Apply
- Bioethics/ Research ethics experts having relevant certification/ qualification in the subject
- Healthcare Professionals (e.g., physicians, nurses, allied health professionals) having a medical degree (MD) or a related qualification in health sciences, with experience in research involving human subjects.
- Professionals qualified/ experienced in research methodology, related to clinical or academic health science research.
- Lawyers with expertise in Canadian law related to human research, with knowledge of federal and provincial regulations related to human research.
- Community Members not affiliated with organization to provide external, community perspective. No formal qualifications are necessary, but an ability to provide an external, unbiased perspective on ethical matters is essential.

we invite members from all ethnic backgrounds, genders, cultural
background, geographical locations, and disability etc.
Must Have
- Canadian citizen/ permanent resident
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to the Tri-Council Policy Statement (TCPS 2, 2022) guidelines
- Commitment to completing the TCPS 2, 2022 online tutorial on ethical research conduct
Nice to have
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills
- Good English and Additional languages are an asset
Role and Responsibilities
Offer your insights and expertise to support the ethical review process and contribute to decision-making regarding research proposals.
Dedicate time to reviewing research materials before meeting.
Evaluate research protocols to ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
Our Work
Human Research
For non-funded research projects such as by students/ faculty, this role will be honorary for most members. Bioethics/Research Ethics experts will be offered an honorarium of 50 CAD per project reviewed.
For funded research,
compensation will be determined based on the specific funding provisions
allocated for the project.

Review of your projects
Serving members can also avail ethical review of their research projects from BMY Health REB. The scope of our REB is providing review of projects that involve data collection from BMY Health organization, field data, social media and community platforms, private clinics, or other healthcare organizations that assign jurisdiction to BMY Health REB for ethics approval of their research.
Learning and Experience
Members will have the chance to participate in our research sessions on various topics, providing opportunities for professional development.
