Week 7
Attention Research Interns! Week 7 has officially started and we're in the ERC Approval & Data collection planning phase!
Currently some groups maybe in process of Ethical approval.
Please remain responsive for any queries shared by Ethical Review Team and do
the amendments on time. Hopefully all pass this stage of approval in a week, and after that we will be diving deep into
Data Collection, engaging with Recorded Sessions on Data Analysis, and
preparing Dummy Tables in next few weeks.
During Data collection weeks, mentor meetings are not scheduled, unless any group needs for their specific project needs. Interns are expected to:
- Focus on completing data collection
- Watch the upcoming Data Analysis Workshop recordings
- Attend tutorials for data analysis assignments.
- For any optional mentor meetings during this time, please share the plan and rationale with HR in advance.
- Work on any manuscript related assignments.
Best of luck with this next phase of your project; manuscript drafting and data collection!

Schedule for Week 7
Monday-Tuesday: Divide tasks to wrap up any pending work of ERC & get it done.
Mid week onwards:
- For groups that have received ERC approval, work on data collection plan (per week, per intern targets) with assessment of the response rate, and submit the written update along with Methodology draft (assignment details below).
- For groups that await ERC decision, start working on Methodology Assignment tasks using tips given below (Submission on Thursday)
Assignment:
Written update of Data collection plan in given template (with per week, per intern targets) if ERC approval received.
Draft of Methodology section for Manuscript. You can easily draft methods section using information from Synopsis/ proposal, with following amendments:
- In Synopsis, the methods section was written in future tense. For manuscript the same methodology will need to be presented in past tense.
- In synopsis we share less details, as some of the details come later also (adjustment of any low responses, analysis). In manuscript we write all the details of methodology.
- Please avoid writing it as short lines under sub headings or bullet points as in synopsis. Instead write in form of paragraphs.
- Some of the details may be added later once we have completed the study and we will finalize this section again later. This time the exercise will help give us the first draft.
- Mentors will review submissions offline or in Friday meetings. Coordinate with your mentor for review preferences.
- The checklists for Mentors' Evaluation - for latest Assignment have also been prepared and shared.
PS: If any group ERC approval is pending or requiring major changes, please work on that as a priority and seek extension for your Methodology assignment.
